UGANDAN CULTURE CELEBRATED @ DEBUT OF THE BOSTON MARATHON:

On Saturday, Boston celebrated Uganda culture at the “Uganda to Boston” event, attracting over 200 attendees at Heartbreak Hill Running Co. The gathering highlighted World Marathon Champion Victor Kiplangat’s debut at the Boston Marathon. Guests enjoyed traditional dance performances, East African street food, and an engaging discussion between Kiplangat and elite coach Patrick Cheptoek, both from Kapchorwa, Uganda.

Kiplangat shared his journey, expressing pride in representing Uganda after his success in Budapest. Cheptoek emphasized the importance of passion for the sport over winning. The evening included a live raffle, offering two attendees an all-expenses-paid trip to Uganda for the 2025 Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon and a gorilla trekking experience.

The event underscored Uganda’s growing presence on the global stage, emphasizing partnership in building the marathon’s success. Local partners included Heartbreak Hill Running Co., the Embassy of Uganda in Washington, D.C., Uganda Boston Community Association (UBCA), and Running Launch Ventures. As Kiplangat prepares for the Boston Marathon, Uganda is poised to shine.
