The Legend’s Marathon, returning on Sunday, April 13, at Legend’s rugby grounds, aims to support athlete career transitions, talent development, and the growth of Uganda’s sports tourism industry. This year will feature races of 42km, 21km, 10km, and a 5km fun run. The event seeks to build a legacy for athletes, whether retired or aspiring.
Notable partners include Crown Beverages (Official Hydration Partner), Kaynela Farms (Modern Farming Education), Safe Places (Mental Health & GBV Support), and Stanbic Business Accelerator (Entrepreneurship Training). Catherine Poran, CEO of Stanbic Business Accelerator, announced plans to offer entrepreneurship training for athletes transitioning post-sport.
Safe Places will introduce a sports-centric mental health module and a program addressing gender-based violence. Kaynela Farms expressed commitment to equipping athletes with agricultural skills and offering agro-tourism experiences.
The 2025 theme, “Run For Your Legend,” encourages participants to dedicate their runs to someone inspirational. Each race bib will feature space for the name of a chosen “legend,” and all participants will receive a medal, regardless of their finishing position.
