Baganda in Pacific North west Region – Washington State, have completed the much-anticipated Kabaka Birthday Run 2025, to honor Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, for his 70th Birthday.
Organized by the Buganda Development Cultural Association (BUDECA) Washington, the run which took place on Saturday 5th April 2025 @ Wapato Lake Park Tacoma, was dedicated to celebrating the Kabaka’s life, raising awareness, prevention & combating HIV/AIDS, promoting public health, environmental conservation, and sanitation.
The run was officiated by Kabaka’s representative Owekitiibwa Moses Ggayi Mayanja and his deputy Omukungu Martin Kalule. Other members of the executive present included the chairman BUDECA Engineer Hamza Bunnya, Samuel Ssenyimba, Christine Kasujja and Godffrey Kasagga.
Omukungu Martin Kalule said “The aim of the run is to join in celebrating the Kabaka on his Birthday, supporting the kingdom public Health & conservation objectives, as well as fostering togetherness among the Baganda in the diaspora”.
The Event, with this year’s theme, “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child,” is a major fundraiser and awareness campaign in Uganda, for the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS, and has contributed to improving education about the disease, reducing the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS as well as lowering prevalence rates.
