UGANDA AIRLINES LAUNCHES DIRECT LONDON FLIGHTS.

Uganda Airlines has launched direct flights to London Gatwick – beginning May 18, 2025, significantly reducing travel time from 16 to 9 hours. With four weekly nonstop flights from Entebbe International Airport, this marks the airline’s first European route and re-establishes a direct air link with the UK after nearly ten years. This new route marks a crucial milestone for the airline, becoming its third international destination beyond Africa, following Dubai and Mumbai.

CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki highlighted the route’s importance for the airline’s growth, noting that securing it took five years due to COVID-19-related challenges. The new flights are expected to strengthen tourism ties, benefiting both Ugandan travelers and exporters, as they enhance convenience for British tourists and facilitate the transport of Ugandan goods. As part of a broader network expansion strategy, the airline plans to explore further African destinations and improve flight efficiency, reducing travel time from 16 to 9 hours. Overall, the London route is viewed as crucial for Uganda Airlines’ future success in international aviation, and will offer competitive fares starting at $733.

The launch of this route expands the airline’s global reach to 17 destinations, with plans for further fleet expansion and future routes to countries like China. The initiative aims to foster increased air connectivity and opportunities for Ugandans and international travelers.
