Uganda’s women’s basketball team, the Gazelles, defeated Ireland 71-56 in a friendly match during their training camp in Germany. After leading 26-18 at the end of the first quarter and 43-27 at halftime.
Uganda maintained a strong performance, finishing the third quarter 60-39 ahead. Captain Jane Asinde contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Paige Robinson scored 23 points and Lydia Babirye added 10.
Despite their loss, Ireland’s Claire Melja and Aine O’Connor each posted 11 points. This victory follows Uganda’s earlier win against Ireland (82-69) as they prepare for the 2025 FIBA Zone V Afrobasket Qualifiers.
