NAM CONFERENCE OFFICIALLY OPENED IN UGANDA.

Uganda’s Vice President, H.E. Jessica Alupo, officially opened the summit, welcoming delegates and emphasizing the country’s commitment to leading the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in accordance with its founding principles and promoting the interests of its members in a globalized world.
The summit is being held concurrently with the East African Trade and Investment Forum, which aims to bring together investors from the East African Community (EAC) and beyond to explore investment opportunities in Uganda and other EAC countries.

The forum is themed “Deeper Cooperation in Trade, Tourism, and Investment for shared global affluence.” Meanwhile, Uganda is also represented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where Peter B. Nyeko, the founder of Mandulus Energy, joined a panel discussion on enabling industries and sectors to scale innovations tackling air pollution and the climate emergency towards achieving net zero. Mandulus Energy is a private energy startup that uses farm waste to generate clean power for local communities in rural Uganda.

The parallel events enhance the significance of Uganda’s hosting of the summits, showcasing the country’s commitment to promoting trade, tourism, and investment while also addressing global challenges such as climate change.
