The chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale Forest National Park offers you a rare opportunity to have quality time with chimpanzees in the wild. Chimpanzees share over 98% of their genetic DNA with humans and this Uganda primate tour provides you a chance to get up close to a semi-habituated community of these unusual apes, and visit to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk.
Kibale Forest National Park is a home to 13 primate species, including an estimate of 1500 chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys as well as an estimate of 375 bird species including the rare green breasted pitta and others.

DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1: Travel to Kibale Forest National Park
Meet your driver guide and depart for Kibale Forest National Park (+/- 6hrs).
Enjoy the scenic views of the local people, Homesteads & farmlands, crater lakes, lush tea plantations as well as views of the Rwenzori mountains on a clear day.
Later, visit Bigodi Wetland for a guided nature walk with mammals like Sitatunga & Duikers, primates & birds including the Great Blue Turaco. The walk will also take you through the local homesteads.
Transfer to your lodge (HB)
Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Transfer to park HQ for a pre tracking briefing before you start your trek in search of the Chimpanzees. The forest is also home to other primate species including grey-cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, bushbabies, black and white colobus monkeys, birds as well as flora & fauna.
The habituation experience offers a chance to spend full day with the chimpanzees, getting close enough to identify individuals by their dynamics and markings. Joining the habituation team, the trek is more challenging as the non habituated groups live deeper in the forest of Kibale. Experience the chimpanzee when they first get up, feeding, caring for the young, hunting, resting, until they make nests to go to bed.

Day 3: Return to Kampala or Entebbe / Departure
Transfer to Kampala or Entebbe to your residence OR to Airport for your connecting flight back home. (Breakfast only)
