This Rwanda gorilla safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda to view the endangered mountain gorillas. Located in the Northern side of the country, this 160sq km conservation area has several gorilla groups, and a range of primates, Birds & wildlife species. The park is part of the Virunga volcano conservation area, which covers Mgahinga National park , in Uganda as well as Virunga National park Congo.
DETAILED ITINERARY:
You will be picked up early morning by your safari guide from Kigali Hotel OR Residence, and depart for Volcanoes National Park( +/-3hrs).
On arrival, transfer to Kinigi Park HQ for briefing on gorilla trekking. You will be allocated a gorilla group, and you will be accompanied by an armed and experienced park ranger guide as you go in search for the rare mountain Gorillas.
The Hike involves navigating through the dense vegetation and steep slopes to see mountain gorillas. A gorilla trek is unpredictable, and can last for several hours depending on your speed of walking and the location of gorillas in their natural habitat. During the trek, you have the opportunity to sight other primates like L’Hoest monkeys, the playful baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, and several bird species in this protected area.
Once you come across a mountain gorillas, you will have only one hour to spend with them.
Explore their feeding habits, body gestures, mating habits, how they communicate to each other as well as photographic opportunity.
After your exhilarating experience, transfer back to Kigali and transfer to your Hotel OR next destination.
